Purpose

This policy sets out our approach to environmental management and sustainability. As a small business specialising in Building Services Engineering, environmental engineering and energy and sustainability consultancy services these are at the core of the company philosophy. Our policy has been endorsed by senior management, and is regularly maintained as part of our QA system.

Our mission as a business is to provide market leading Building Services Engineering consultancy. We will practice this through our approach to environmental and sustainability issues which are divided between:

 Policy statement

MEP Concepts is a Building Services Engineering sustainability and energy consultancy. Environmental performance is at the heart of our operations and it shapes how we do business. As an organisation, we must lead by example. We raise awareness of environmental issues in the built environment, and through an integrated approach propose to enhance the sustainability of buildings and development sites with which we operate.

  • Provide leadership in sustainable development in the built environment.
  • Work with our clients to pursue, promote and develop sustainable business outcomes.
  • Promote sustainable business practices.
  • Use our experience, skills and influence to improve the built environment by improving environmental, social and economic performance for our clients and the wider community.
  • Provide pragmatic and value added advice to our clients
  • Encourage our clients and their delivery partners to think holistically and sustainably about design.

  • Provide ongoing education and training for all staff to ensure the business is able to support our clients with the latest and best quality advice in the field.
  • Support and encourage innovative approaches to implementation of sustainability strategies on projects.
  • Achieve recognition for our Sustainable practices and through membership of the Supply Chain Sustainabilty School seek to maintain Bronze membership and aspire to Silver status.
  • Monitor our business related Carbon Emissions and work to a Carbon Reduction plan where unavoidable emissions are audited and offset with and through Gold Standard verifiers.

  • Use resources efficiently and minimise waste, usage of water, energy and other consumables.

  • Engage with organisations that have a genuine desire to develop sustainable business practices and who are open to an exchange of ideas that promote leadership in the area.
  • Make a difference by working within local community and promoting understanding of sustainable development issues and lifestyles especially within the next generation.
  • Our offices are located within a 15 minute walk of a bus stop.

We are committed to achieving an ISO 14001 standard, however at this stage our small size prevents this from becoming a reality. We will keep this opportunity under review over the coming years.
