Co-Living / Student Accommodation
Client: Spaces London Bridge
Location: Long Lane, Southwark, London
MEP Concepts were appointed as Spaces London Bridge, Building Services Engineers to develop the Concept to Stage 4 MEP design services and provide Energy and Sustainability consultancy for the development of a Co-living mixed used development over 14 storeys in Southwark.
MEP Concepts were well placed to provide M&E services for new build projects in particular development of Student accommodation and Mixed-use schemes. Spaces LB is a development of Co-Living for post graduates in central London and is based around an individual studio bedroom with en-suite bathroom concept mixed with communal areas for social spaces, including gym, library, kitchen and dining areas.
MEP Concepts ability to deal with a potentially difficult planning constraints, satisfy the local authorities challenging energy and sustainability targets and produce an MEP design that met the contract budget requirements as well as the clients brief was critical.
The project involved coordination of new incoming utility services and development of a basement plant room in which all the combustion plant including CHP and emergency generator had to be located. Detailing plant risers, ventilation to the basement and coordination with the client’s layout plans created a complex design and MEP Concepts engineers liaised closely with the appointed design team through the process.
