I’m really interested in how technology is changing the way we design and deliver projects
What I enjoy most about working for MEP?
Getting stuck into a design and having to problem solve, overcoming obstacles and challenges and seeing a project progress.
What has been your most challenging project?
There was a project I worked on that had been passed around so many consultancy practices. it felt like more of a group art project than a technical design. All involved had added their little flair along the way with different styles, assumptions, and the occasional mysterious note with no context. It was a bit like trying to finish a jigsaw puzzle where half the pieces were from other sets. Took a lot of digging, cross-referencing, and the occasional sigh, but we got there in the end.
What do I do in my spare time?
Outside of work you’ll either find me in the gym (unless the sun is out then it’s a beer garden), on the golf course or discovering that gardening is surprisingly addictive! We’re currently on a strict ‘strawberry only’ diet in my house.
What are you passionate about with this industry?
I’m really interest in how technology is changing the way we design and deliver projects. I went to an event where we walked through a Revit model in virtual reality, you could explore the building, open doors, flip tables (very satisfying) and spot clashes before anything was even built. It’s exciting to see the innovation in that sense, it makes design more interactive, efficient, and just generally a bit more fun!
Tell us one thing no one knows about you?
I’m actually an avid coin collector. It started back in 2012 with the Olympic 50ps. From there it’s kind of snowballed, now if I spot a rare coin I can’t help but stash it away.
