Olabisi Sobowale new
Building Services Engineer
Olabisi (Bisi) is a superb member of the team, primarily a Mechanical Design Engineer; she lends her CAD and organisational skills to help the team across all disciplines.
Bisi’s degree was in Environmental Architecture, involving the interaction and understanding of how buildings and their interior environments are affected by current and future climate impacts.
Her background included the exploration of mitigation measures with fabric specification changes, alternative building conventions, and the application of new emerging technologies.
Bisi has developed her skills since graduating from University to utilize Design Builder software and Revit, not only to simulate but also co-ordinate complex properties and developments.
Her experience stretches across all project types, particularly in industrial, commercial and residential sectors.
I hope that the projects I work on leave a positive impact on our current and future environment
What I enjoy most about working for MEP?
Every project can be similar, but not the same; the solutions required for the building are always different. This presents different design challenges and choices, which are interesting to work on!
What has been your most challenging project?
There was a project I worked on that had existing services and we had to validate all of the existing calculations whilst calculating the new services required. It required a lot of coordination and clarification calls (with more design changes happening behind the scenes), it got resolved and the project has progressed immensely.
What do I do in my spare time?
I like to binge-watch series and read a lot of books, but most of the time, I’m knitting whilst watching a new series! I never block or swatch anything, so I normally dive straight in when I start a new project, but I probably should in the future!
What are you passionate about with this industry?
Climate change and other world events cause the building services industry to move in leaps and bounds, with more insight emerging every day with new findings. As I progress through my career, I hope that the projects I work on leave a positive impact on our current and future environment.
Tell us one thing no one knows about you?
I used to draw portraits when I was in secondary school and in Uni but gradually stopped before finishing my course – haven’t drawn a portrait since I finished, but I aim to be reinspired again, one day!
